Sinnissippi Golf Course – Review and Rating

Sinnissippi Golf Course is the oldest public golf course in Rockford, inaugurated already in 1912. It is the golf course where many Rockford golfers grew up.

Sinnissippi Golf Course is located in Sinnissippi Park, right next to the Scandinavian Cemetery. It is a compact but beautiful parkland course, with nice, wide fairways and a lot of undulation. It is a perfect course to play if you only have a couple of hours to spare. And if you have a bit more time, take the chance to play a second nine holes. You'll have a lot more fun now that you know the course.

The concessions are simple, but full service and very friendly, with quite reasonable prices. And the starter is of Swedish descent, of course.

The course may seem easy, but it has a few quirks so you have to pay attention.

The course is full-length, with a mix of par 3s, 4s, and 5s.

The course starts out with a fairly tough par 4. After three fairly straightforward holes you get back to the clubhouse.

The tee shot on four is quite downhill, followed by an uphill approach. The same goes for number five. Number six is a mid/length par three, but very downhill, so a seven iron might be enough. Hole seven is an uphill par five. If you reach the top, you may be able to reach the green in two. A very nice hole. Number nine rounds out the course with a good par 5.
